BEYOND THE BRAVE: The Most Impactful Cards You Need to Know
BEYOND THE BRAVE has just hit the market, and duelists are already buzzing about its game-changing cards and themes. Some releases are proving to be instant staples, while others are shaking up the competitive scene from Day 1. Let’s break down the most wanted cards from BETB and why they’re making waves.
Overview
Released on July 18, 2026, BEYOND THE BRAVE introduces iconic highlights such as Red-Eyes Black Dragon Exceed and Joey’s brand-new Dark Time Wizard theme. Alongside these, we see fresh support for archetypes like Ashtra, Ars Magna, Adamancipator, Umi, Destiny HERO, and Umbral Horror. With so many powerful additions, this set is already shaping the meta in exciting ways.
Let’s discuss the most-wanted cards from BEYOND THE BRAVE!
The newest board breaker in Yu-Gi-Oh! feels like a direct successor to Lava Golem. Decks that don’t rely heavily on their Normal Summon can maximize its potential. Not only do you keep the monster you summon, but you also gain a negate and a battle position shift effect, making Gallant Thief a formidable threat. Competitive decks like Light and Darkness Ritual and Mitsurugi are already siding it — a clear sign this card belongs in your staple arsenal.
This Spell card delivers a non-targeting two-card bounce while disrupting the opponent’s hand. It’s a versatile tool against decks lacking in-theme omni-negates, and early testing shows promise across multiple lists. Expect this to be a sleeper hit that duelists will need to prepare for.
The latest boss monster in the Medius lore, Medicurius is a generic Link-3 that scales in power depending on the number of monsters it points to. Already seeing play in Darklord and Power Patron builds, it’s proving to be a flexible tech choice with strong upside.
4. Black Skull Dragon of Unity & Spell Shattering Sword
Both cards bolster the Light and Darkness Ritual strategy. While typically played as single copies, they enhance consistency and provide answers to popular decks like Toon. Their synergy ensures stronger turn-zero interruptions, giving duelists more reliable control tools.
Joey’s newest theme is already carving out a spot in the meta. By pairing with the Radiant Typhoon engine and bridging into Swiftwind Panther Warrior via M.X-Saber Invoker, the deck gains impressive consistency. Early results show promise, and as players refine its lines, Dark Time Wizard could become a format contender.
Summary
BEYOND THE BRAVE is a set packed with board breakers, meta-shaping bosses, and support for beloved archetypes. From Gallant Thief’s disruptive power to Joey’s Dark Time Wizard deck, this release is already redefining competitive play.

A new month means a new Main Set, and IMMORTAL PHOENIX is packed with more than just new archetypes and support cards. The set also introduces several generic cards that could impact deck building and find their way into competitive strategies. Today, we'll be taking a look at the top generic cards from IMMORTAL PHOENIX and why they're worth getting.
1. Power of the Duelist
Power of the Duelist is easily one of the most versatile Spell Cards in IMMORTAL PHOENIX. Not only does it feature classic HERO monsters in its artwork, but it also offers three powerful effects that can be chosen depending on the situation.
The card immediately reminded me of Triple Tactics Talent. However, instead of waiting for your opponent to trigger its condition, you're the one deciding how to utilize it. Depending on the Attribute you declare, it can act as monster removal, provide additional draws, or even negate effects.
Decks that can reliably trigger the chosen Attribute effect will get the most value out of this card, making Power of the Duelist one of the standout generic Spells in IMMORTAL PHOENIX.
2. Heretic Eradicator
Another impressive Ultimate Rare from IMMORTAL PHOENIX, Heretic Eradicator is a strong tech option against decks that heavily utilize the Extra Deck.
Strategies that rely on Link Climbing or summoning multiple Extra Deck summons can find their momentum stopped by this card at a critical moment. On top of that, it can Special Summon itself, giving you a free Level 7 body to work with.
Being both disruption and a free Level 7 body gives this card a lot of potential. This is definitely a card worth watching from IMMORTAL PHOENIX heading into the next format.
3. Nightmare Twinkle
One card that immediately stood out to me in IMMORTAL PHOENIX was Nightmare Twinkle.
Many players have already started referring to it as the Illusion equivalent of Tour Guide From the Underworld, and it's easy to see why. Upon being Summoned, it can tutor any Level 7 or lower Illusion monster directly from your Deck.
This gives consistency to Illusion-based strategies, including Hecahands and the new Winter Raven theme introduced in IMMORTAL PHOENIX. The card will only get better as more Illusion support arrives in future releases.
4. Karin the Celestial Sage of the Highest Heights
One of the more interesting Extra Deck monsters in IMMORTAL PHOENIX, Karin the Celestial Sage of the Highest Heights is a Rank 7 Xyz Monster capable of negating summons from the Deck by allowing your opponent to draw a card.
While the drawback may seem unusual at first, the ability to stop key summons can easily be worth the cost.
This card feels like a perfect addition to Raise Moon strategies from Glorious Victors. As someone who enjoys playing Raise Moon at locals, this is definitely a card I can see earning a permanent spot in the Extra Deck.
5. The Secret Crane Princess who Returns a Favor
The Secret Crane Princess who Returns a Favor is one of the more unique generic cards in IMMORTAL PHOENIX.
This pseudo hand trap specifically punishes strategies that reveal cards in your hand. Toon decks utilizing Mind Scan immediately come to mind, giving this card a valuable niche in certain matchups.
What makes it even more appealing is its ability to recycle itself while also generating additional value over the course of a Duel. Raise Moon players may also find some creative applications thanks to the extra draw power it provides.
6. Javelin Beetle of the Alliance
Classic monsters continue to receive modern upgrades in IMMORTAL PHOENIX, and Javelin Beetle of the Alliance is a great example.
Not only does it feature a built-in Ritual Summon effect, but it also has a powerful once-per-Duel removal effect that can be activated during either player's Main Phase.
My first thought when this card was revealed was its potential alongside Light and Darkness Ritual or Mitsurugi strategies. It also feels like a natural inclusion in Reindsurm, the new Insect theme debuting in IMMORTAL PHOENIX.
With strong utility and flexibility, this is definitely one of the sleeper picks from IMMORTAL PHOENIX.
7. The Pyramid of Kepher
Field Spells continue to be some of the most important cards in modern Yu-Gi-Oh!, and The Pyramid of Kepher gives players another way to access them.
In addition to searching your Field Spell, the card also offers synergy with Zombie Ritual strategies. The most obvious beneficiary is the Zenet archetype from Glorious Victors, but its applications likely won't end there.
As more Zombie Ritual themes are introduced after IMMORTAL PHOENIX, this card could become increasingly relevant.
8. Castle of Vampire
Vampire fans finally have something new to look forward to in IMMORTAL PHOENIX.
Castle of Vampire functions as a powerful tutor for DARK Zombie monsters, giving decks additional consistency while supporting a wide variety of Zombie-based strategies.
Even outside dedicated Vampire builds, players experimenting with DARK Zombie decks may find this card worth considering. It's one of those generic support cards from IMMORTAL PHOENIX that could quietly become a staple within its niche.
9. Necromancer of Dark Magic
Last but certainly not least is Necromancer of Dark Magic, one of the most exciting generic Link Monsters in IMMORTAL PHOENIX.
This card serves as a Fusion facilitator that many players have compared to a more balanced version of Predaplant Verte Anaconda. While it doesn't reach the same level of power, it still provides impressive utility by helping bring out powerful Fusion Monsters more consistently.
I've already seen several early test hands and gameplay videos utilizing this card, and its potential is hard to ignore. Necromancer of Dark Magic has all the makings of a strong Extra Deck option and could easily find its way into a variety of Fusion-focused strategies.
Final Thoughts
Overall, IMMORTAL PHOENIX looks like one of the stronger Main Sets we've received this year. Between the new archetypes, support cards, and generic options, there are plenty of cards that could find their way into competitive and casual decks alike. Personally, I'm most excited about the new Sun God archetype inspired by Yami Marik as well as the Harpie Amazoness theme based on Mai Valentine. IMMORTAL PHOENIX has a little something for every type of Duelist, and it'll be exciting to see which cards ultimately make the biggest impact once the set hits the shelves.
As always, be sure to check TCG-Corner for your daily Yu-Gi-Oh! card upgrades and news coverage.

October's biggest Asian English release might have more than just Dragoon hype |Creation Pack 13
With Dark Magician of Destruction and Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon finally arriving in Asian English, it's easy to see why Creation Pack 13 has generated plenty of excitement. But beyond the headline cards, this set is loaded with fan-favorite themes, long-awaited imports, and key cards that tie directly into the upcoming Beyond the Brave release.
Overview
Launching on October 10, Creation Pack 13 Asian English features a 100-card lineup plus exclusive cards available through the first-run +1 Bonus Pack. Let's take a look at some of the biggest highlights from the set.
1. Red-Eyes
Leading the charge is the legendary Red-Eyes archetype.
Its arrival couldn't be better timed, especially with Joey's cards making a comeback in the upcoming Beyond the Brave release. Creation Pack 13 includes many iconic Red-Eyes cards such as Red-Eyes Black Dragon, Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, and Black Metal Dragon, while also introducing Red-Eyes Fusion and the highly anticipated Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon to the Asian English card pool.
2. Destiny HERO
Destiny HERO duelists are eating well with Creation Pack 13.
Several important cards receive reprints and rarity upgrades, including Fusion Destiny and Destiny HERO Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer. On top of that, Asian English players will finally gain access to classic cards such as Destiny HERO Plasma and Destiny HERO Dreadmaster.
With additional Destiny HERO support arriving in Beyond the Brave, this set serves as an excellent foundation for anyone planning to revisit or build the deck in the coming months.
3. Adamancipator
After years of waiting, Adamancipator finally arrives in Asian English.
The entire strategy is being imported into AE, giving players access to one of the most recognizable Synchro-based archetypes in modern Yu-Gi-Oh!. With future support connections to Beyond the Brave, this is the perfect opportunity for fans of the deck to start digging into the cards they need.
Pun fully intended.
4. Constellar / Tellarknight
One of the biggest surprises of the set has to be Constellar and Tellarknight.
Not only are both archetypes making their way into Asian English, but Creation Pack 13 also includes important cards inspired by the OCG's Terminal World 3 releases. This provides a solid core for players looking to build the strategy without having to wait for additional imports.
For many duelists, this may end up being one of the most exciting theme inclusions in the entire set.
5. Phantasm Spiral
As someone who has always enjoyed Umi decks, this one holds a special place in my heart.
Phantasm Spiral was actually one of the first OCG decks I played when I was getting started in the game, so seeing these cards finally arrive in Asian English is a pleasant surprise. I'll definitely be leaving some binder space for them.
Now the big question remains: does this mean we'll see more Umi support imported in future releases? We'll have to wait and see.
6. Dark Magician of Destruction Engine
Of course, we can't talk about Creation Pack 13 without mentioning the Dark Magician of Destruction cards.
The set includes all three cards associated with the strategy, along with a beautiful alternate-art version of Dark Magician. Since modern Asian English reprints of Dark Magician first returned in late 2023, it feels like the perfect time for these cards to receive a more accessible and playable release.
For Dark Magician fans, this may be one of the strongest collector attractions in the entire set.
Final Thoughts
Creation Pack 13 is much more than a Dragoon set.
Between Red-Eyes, Destiny HERO, Adamancipator, Constellar, Tellarknight, Phantasm Spiral, and the Dark Magician of Destruction engine, there's a little something for collectors, casual duelists, and competitive players alike. More importantly, many of these cards connect directly to the upcoming Beyond the Brave release in November, making Creation Pack 13 an important pickup if you're planning future deck projects.

Did the October 2026 AE Banlist Fix the Format or Miss the Mark?
The October 2026 Asian English Forbidden & Limited List is finally here, bringing hits to cards like PSY-Framelord Omega, Maxx "C", Droll & Lock Bird, and Kewl Tune. But are these changes enough to shake up the format? Let's take a closer look.
Overview
For those unfamiliar with the format, Asian English (AE) is played in select regions across Asia, including the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and Hong Kong. Only cards released in the Asian English card pool are legal, creating a unique environment that differs from both the TCG and OCG.
Because of this difference in card availability, the AE Forbidden & Limited List doesn't always mirror its TCG or OCG counterparts. That said, many of the recent changes clearly draw inspiration from previous hits in both formats.
Let's take a quick look at what's changed before diving into the impact of each hit.
My Insights
Let's go through each category and discuss the biggest winners and losers of the list.
Forbidden
PSY-Framelord Omega (3 → 0)
PSY-Framelord Omega has long been one of the strongest generic Level 8 Synchro Monsters available in the format. While it often appears as a by-product of resolving PSY-Framegear Gamma, its biggest offense has been its role in newer Elfnote combo lines, where it enables hand-rip interactions that can create frustrating gameplay experiences.
Considering both the OCG and TCG have already banned Omega, it was only a matter of time before AE followed suit. Personally, I think this is one of the best hits on the entire list. Removing Omega cuts off an unhealthy interaction while having minimal impact on fair Synchro strategies.
A clean and well-deserved ban.
Limited
Droll & Lock Bird (2 → 1)
Kewl Tune Cue (3 → 1)
Maxx "C" (2 → 1)
Branded Fusion (2 → 1)
Kewl Tune Synchro (3 → 1)
This is where most of the impactful changes happened.
First, Maxx "C" and Droll & Lock Bird both dropping to a single copy are great changes in my opinion. These cards frequently function as turn-ending hand traps, and reducing their accessibility should lead to slightly healthier games where players have more opportunities to execute their strategies.
As for Kewl Tune, the deck received meaningful hits through Kewl Tune Cue and Kewl Tune Synchro, both moving from three copies to one. While those are significant consistency reductions, I'm honestly surprised the list stopped there.
Cards like Kewl Tune Rotary remain untouched, giving the strategy plenty of ways to continue playing through interruptions. Kewl Tune players will definitely feel these changes, but I don't believe the deck is completely out of the conversation yet.
Branded Fusion finally moving to one copy feels long overdue. The card has been one of the strongest one-card starters available for Branded variants, so limiting it was expected sooner rather than later. While Branded remains playable, its consistency takes a noticeable hit.
One thing that stands out to me is what wasn't addressed.
Called by the Grave remains at two copies, allowing going-first players to continue protecting their combo lines against hand traps with relative ease. Given the current state of the format, I expected at least some change here.
Semi-Limited
Sky Striker Mobilize - Engage! (3 → 2)
The Semi-Limited section is surprisingly short this time around, with Sky Striker Mobilize - Engage! being the only card affected.
On paper, this may look like a mild consistency hit, but its impact is actually more significant in Asian English than many players may realize.
Unlike the OCG, Asian English currently does not have access to Sky Striker Ace = Camellia, which means Sky Striker decks cannot fully capitalize on some of the newer interactions involving the Radiant Typhoon cards and related engines.
Because the deck already lacks some of the tools available in other formats, reducing Engage to two copies hurts a bit more than it would elsewhere.
It's not a devastating hit, but it's certainly a relevant one.
Unlimited
Diabellstar the Black Witch (2 → 3)
Last but certainly not least, Diabellstar the Black Witch has been fully released from the list and returns to three copies.
This is a welcome boost for various Azamina strategies and should improve the consistency of decks utilizing the Diabellstar engine. It also feels like a timely move with Chaos Origins approaching the Asian English format, where several related strategies are expected to gain additional support.
Whether this change alone pushes Azamina-based decks to the top remains to be seen, but it's definitely a nice boost for players of the deck.
Final Thoughts
Overall, the October 2026 AE Forbidden & Limited List hits relevant cards and addresses several of the format's biggest talking points. However, I can't help but feel that it stops just short of making a truly dramatic impact.
While Omega is gone and consistency tools like Kewl Tune Cue, Kewl Tune Synchro, Branded Fusion, Maxx "C", and Droll & Lock Bird have been toned down, several powerful cards remain largely untouched.
Called by the Grave is still at two copies.
PSY-Framegear Gamma is still at two copies.
Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring remains at three copies.
As a result, going first continues to provide a significant advantage, and many of the strongest decks still have access to powerful ways to push through interaction.
Looking ahead, Creation Pack 13 Asian English releases on October 10, followed by Beyond the Brave Asian English in November. Both sets are expected to introduce new staples and competitive strategies that could significantly influence the metagame moving forward.
Until then, decks such as Elfnote, Kewl Tune, Sky Striker, and Light and Darkness Ritual remain strong contenders heading into the new format.
What do you think of the new list? Did Konami hit the right cards, or were there other changes you wanted to see?
As always, be sure to check out TCG-Corner for the latest OCG and AE releases.
